Hire Genius is a cutting-edge recruitment platform designed to address the common frustrations with current ATS and CRM systems. The solution needed to be simple and intuitive, offering outcome-based results, an effortless user experience and beautiful UI.
The Project
Objective.
Provide a new design strategy, visual design and a modular design system enabling a customer experience across the Hire Genius product portfolio. Create clear and concise user experiences which would help solve customer problems and simplify repetitive daily tasks.
Approach.
I started by speaking with senior recruitment leaders to understand the needs and frustrations of the recruitment world. Next I audited the current beta product, identifying areas for improvement and potential areas for growth and experimentation.

Building a new Design System while also maintaining the existing component library and designing new features for the existing products felt like rebuilding a plane during a turbulent flight…
Component Library
After establishing the foundations of the Designs System I began to implement these and created a vast array of components and all of the variants. With well over a hundred components and thousands of variants it was a huge challenge ensuring these components not only looked great but that they functioned consistently and were tested thoroughly.
Product Design
Creating consistent interaction patterns and using the Design System meant that our users communication experiences are consistent whether they using desktop or mobile products.
Current business
Users told us they needed a snapshot of their jobs and candidates in one place. With so much information to display I proposed using tabs to section make a clear separation between candidates and jobs. This separation made for a clear and glanceable.
User Profile
Users told us that they viewed hundreds of candidate profiles each day but that they needed to find key details fast. With so much candidate information, the challenge was to create a strong visual hierarchy and a clean and intuitive UI.

Consistent communication suite
A key part of a recruiters job is based around building and maintaining relationships. A seamless, consistent communications experience is an essential part of the Hire Genius platform. It was vital to design a solution with a consistent experience for both desktop and the mobile platforms.
Consistent UX
A major part of my role was to create efficient user journeys that best helped our users achieve their desired outcomes. In order to simplify complex interactions all the end-to-end user journey where mapped and prototyped. The prototypes where then shared with a select group of our customers for feedback. We would then digest the user feedback and iterate the designs before preparing them for dev handover.
